The Establishment of Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT) is one of the major initiative taken by the Govt. of Sikkim for the development of technicial education in the state. The polytechnic was set up under the World Bank assisted "Third Technician Education Project" of MHRD,Govt. of India.
The state Govt. intends the polytechnic to be a model institute with the latest technologies and facilities as “Centre of Excellence”. The establishment of the polytechnic is designed to address the need for employable skills to be imbibed among the youth of the state. This will address the major constraints for development in the state also for seeking potential employment outside the state.
The Diploma curriculum offered by the polytechnic has been framed by Nettur Technical Training Foundation, NTTF, Bangalore. The courses are approved by A.I.C.T.E. The diplomas issued by CCCT is jointly certified by the Board of Technical Education, Sikkim and NTTF, and are highly valued by major industries within the country and even abroad.
The polytechnic is an ISO 9001 certified institute and aims at enriching its unique identity and getting recognition as a world class institute for training technicians in the high technology fields of Computers, Electronics, Telecommunication, Electricals,Civil Engineering and in emerging technologies of related fields.
Apart from regular Diploma courses,CCCT also conducts various short term technical vocational courses as per the demand of industry and community at large.To further its corporate Social responsibility, The CCCT has ventured as as an MHRD approved ,community college in the State of Sikkim and have taken up the pilot projects for empowering the rural youths in skill development for Industry focussed employment.
